Frances Crowe

Longtime pacifist Frances Crowe counseled more than fifteen hundred conscientious objectors during the Vietnam War. With her husband, physician Tom Crowe, Frances began resisting nuclear weapons the day the United States dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. She is noted for her witness against war and weapons.
For many years the face of Western Massachusetts American Friends Service Committee, Frances has spearheaded countless campaigns to encourage truth in the communities of humankind.
Frances resides in Northampton. She spends her days gathering her food, cooking, exercising, and sustaining herself: reading, thinking, organizing, and acting. Always acting.
