Susie Gaglia, growing up near active railroads, heard at an early age the captivating call of the lonesome whistle and sounds of trains through day and night.

 

As she grew into adulthood, events in her life evolved so that she had direct contact with railroad operating personnel and, in time, she joined their ranks. Soon Susie became a qualified engineer and pulled countless freight and passenger trains during her 15-year railroad career.

 

While no longer a railroad employee, she continues to be drawn trackside and treasures her memories of her American railroad dream.
